It was around 5.15 AM when we could leave the plane. Singapore has 3 terminals, but my connecting flight was also in terminal 2, where I just had landed. I walked around a bit, the first shops went open. Finally I walked to my departure gate where I had to wait another 45 minutes before I could check-in. Also this went smoothly. After another 3 hours flight I was at the airport in Makassar, the capital of Sulawesi (which officially is called Ujung Pandang). After buying a visa for US $ 25, I could pass the Customs though I was the last person; the plane was only half full.
I met by my guide Tony who brought me to the hotel. En route he told me in poor English somewhat about what we passed, such as a huge statue of a sultan and the karaoke street of Makassar.
After the hotel check-in I went to my room, which actually is a bungalow, built above the water. I felt a little dizzy, maybe also because of the heat. When opening the door the key broke off, but there was soon a new one arranged.
The first thing I did was a few hours of sleep. Next I walked a little bit at the surrounding of the hotel, mainly at the shopping street and also collected some money at an ATM.
Around 7 PM I had dinner in the hotel. The restaurant is built in the shape of a boat. Applicable, because it stands on stilts above the sea. The food was expensive, drinking even more expensive. I was the only visitor. After watching some TV to fight against sleep, I lost that fight anyway and around 11 PM I fell asleep.
