Home - Dubai

Today a new journey, this time to Malaysia. First I went by train from my hometown to Amsterdam. I took the train from 11.39 AM. Between the cities is plenty of green countryside, lots of grass, but also water and reeds. From the train I saw several birds and a few horses.

Around 12.45 PM I was at Schiphol Airport and check in my luggage. Around 1 PM I was standing outside, smoking a cigar before going through security. That was pretty strict, because my whole backpack was unpacked and tested for drugs and scanned again. Once everything was cleared, I passed customs pretty smoothly. After buying some duty free cigars, I had a sandwich and a coffee for lunch. The flight was slightly delayed and so I had more time. Still, I was already around 2 PM at the gate where I was waiting quietly on boarding.

Just after 3.40 AM the plane left. I was in an Airbus A380 which is the largest plane that exists. I sat in the front row so I had more leg space. The nice thing is that a camera is hanging below the aircraft so you could see exactly what was going on, about the same what the pilots see.

During the flight I watched a movie, the Revenence, which was well advertised, but actually is a quite boring movie. It kept me busy over 2 hours. Meanwhile, I also got a meal. In the ceiling of the aircraft they had made all sorts of constellations with tiny lights, nice to see. I flew with Emirates. Because my entertainment screen was not working, I went temporarily to sit in another place. Eventually the plane landed at 00.15 AM (it 2 hours than in the Netherlands), after more than 5200 kilometers, in Dubai. Again the camera was on, only now it was dark. Only close by you could see the runway.
