Travellingman reisverhalen - - San Cristobal - Tehuantepec
Day 9: 10 maart 2008
San Cristobal - Tehuantepec

For 6.45 am I woke up and fetched my luggage. After a breakfast of bananas, which I had bought earlier on the road, I left around 7.30 am. Again it was fresh. I drove on into the mountains. On the highest point of my travel I took some photographs. Around 9.15 am I arrived at Chiapa de Corzo. Here I made a boat excursion through Canyon del Sumidero. Splendid area with all kind of things among which were crocodiles, iguana and millions years old rocks. Stalagmites, a Jesus character (which had been formed in a natural manner) fanned out trees and a dam where electricity was produced. On the way back we saw little monkeys and an owl. A beautiful tour. Hereafter I drove on, partly through highland, partly by splendid mountains (among also Miridor Iris).

Around 5 pm I checked in at a hotel in Tehuantepec. The hotel is just before the town and seems to be a business hotel, but has a splendid garden and a swimming pool. It was still rather warm and I went in the garden to read. By the time the sun almost set I went back to my room and had a shower before I had dinner at the large restaurant of the hotel. Afterwards I watched some TV and went to sleep.
