Schiermonnikoog - Ameland

I woke up around 7.30 AM and took a shower in the port building. You can shower using a coin which you have to buy at the harbour master for one euro and it is good for 5 minutes. The water was warm. After showering a little walk along the levee and I took some pictures. For the rest I stayed a bit and stay around the ship. Others went for a walk or hired a bicycle to explore the island.

Around 11.30 AM the groceries, which were bought by the organizers in the village, were delivered. After that we left the harbour, because the water was just high enough. We went through the narrow gully using the engine, as we had to pass two shoals in time. When we passed the shoals we raised the sails. The wind was southwest and we sailed to the west. The trench is rather winding and frequently the engine had to be used. The sun was irregular, making it occasionally was warm, but without direct sun it was chilly in the wind.

We sailed along Ameland and it was a nice trip. We sailed to the west of the island and then cross over to Terschelling. The water was already getting lower and the goal was to stay on a shoal south of Ameland. The intended point we did not reach because had to stop earlier due to low tide. It was not completely dry and we stayed near 'Kikkertplaat'

The cooking team already had made a snack and soup while we were on the move. When we had moored we collectively eat in the galley just after 7.00 PM. The food was good and after some reading and writing I had some chat with the other passengers. The intention was that we would sail in the evening, but it was too dark. There were a lot of stars but no moon, so we stayed on this spot. Around 1.00 AM I went to bed.
