Day 10: Zondag 5 maart 2017
Villarrica - Cuidad del Este

Around 7:00 AM I woke up and went for a walk around the block to stretch my legs. Then to the third floor of the hotel to have breakfast. I also made a couple of pictures with an overview of the city. Hereafter pack my bag and some work on my trip diary.

Eventually I left at 9:30 AM. First I drove some in by past some farmland, but once on route 7 it was not very interesting. Many factories, a number of villages and towns. Often it was excavated along the way. Everywhere red sand. In my car, despite the good wash which I gave it yesterday.

Halfway I wanted to stop for a cup of coffee. Nowhere it really looked nice and when I once had found such a place, I could not get no coffee. There were restaurants, but closed (Sunday) or they had no coffee. I therefore drove in one stretch and was around 1:30 PM in Ciudad del Este. Long before the city I had to slow down, many industry area. Eventually I was after 230 climber at the hotel Convair. For the first time I met someone who could speak English. I checked in and got a room on the fourth floor with immediately a beautiful view because it is a corner room.

After I put my luggage in the room, I parked my car in a garage. I walked around a bit, but almost everything was closed because of Sunday. I walked to the Friendship Bridge, which is 10 minutes walk from the hotel. I walked past a large shopping center that looked fairly new and was called Paris. Again most shops were closed.

Back at the hotel to rest, and around 4:30 PM to a park walk which is near the hotel. There is also a large lake. A number of people were here to recreate. It is remarkable that there is a separate bike path here and there was actually cycled. So far I have only seen a few cyclists, most are riding on a moped or light motor bike. These drive also fast 100 km/h and most don’t wear a helmet. I also went to a smaller park with a fountain and then back to the hotel. Again some rest and rinse the sweat under a shower. It is noticeable that most of the hotels I have been so far also had showers with hot water, although it every day it’s 35C or more (except today, through the clouds, it was no warmer than 32 C).

Around 8 PM I went to eat at the hotel restaurant, where just finished a baby shower. Nice way to get the new born a lot of presents.

After dinner I smoked a cigar smoked and spent the night in my room. They recommend during the evening not to walk the streets here, even though it seemed pretty quiet.
