After I woke up, had breakfast and pack my bag. Around 9:30 AM I checked out and began the exodus out of Edmonton. Once on Highway 16 I could drive fairly fast. Along the way I noticed that I had forgotten to fill the car with petrol and what fueled at a small petrol station I encountered.
After 80 kilometers I made a stop at Wabamun and walked around the lake. It is primarily a recreational place. There were some people who apparently spent their weekends here. After that I drove to Seba Beach, a small village with a beach indeed, although it is not much. Quite a nice view. I also visited small museum, which was opened especially for me. It is not much more than a small room with stuff from the pioneer days. The first people came here in 1906 and in 1911 there was a steam boat. Apparently each year a regatta is held here, given the large number of photos. Furthermore, some old utensils.
I drove on and made another stop in the Pembina River Provincial Park. Through a forest I made a round trip of over 2 kilometers. Lots of squirrels and a few birds. It is an easy path to walk, and there is also a vantage point on the river and the bridge. I drove to the river and saw someone fly fishing. There is a walkway, but I hit didn’t walk this. Via Evansburg I drove back to the highway.
I drove past the Chip Lake and stopped at a lake that was not even on the map. I walked around a bit and drove on again. I made a stop at a place where suddenly three petrol stations were together while you won’t find at any along the road. I refueled here and drank a cup of coffee. It was already around 1:30 PM.
The next stop was at the Lake Obed. I walked a path that ran along the lake, but eventually ran dead in a grassy field. Some ducks and other birds here. The water was clear and colored some green. I went back again.
Due to road work, I had to drive a little slower, something that some other motorists did not and I was therefore taken over many times, while there is an overtaking ban. It strikes me that there are some motorists who continue to drive in the left lane while they are not not taking over. The behavior of some motorist is doubtful.
It started to become hilly again and from the higher points, I could see the Rockies lie in front of me. In a higher summit I took some pictures (the wind was pretty strong here) and then drove through to my final destination for today, Hinton. I checked in at the Crestwood hotel and relaxed some. I wanted to buy some clean clothes, but could not find a shop that sold something. I went to eat at an Italian restaurant, where it was remarkably busy. I drove back to the hotel and had 350 kilometers on the counter. After some work to travelogue TV and go to bed.
