Day 6: Woensdag 16 mei 2018
Matemwe

After getting up at 6 am after the restless night. It just started to rain pretty much. I had breakfast and packed my things, but the rain did not stop. One of the guards brought me an umbrella so that I could walk a bit dry to the reception. I was picked up later than the planned 07.20 am, but was at the destination at around 8 am. I explained my problem with the credit card and they would see if they could find a solution. For today, diving was certain. After dressing up and putting the stuff in the right bag, we were driven to the boat. The tide varies a lot here and they had to put the boat down elsewhere. First we were brought with a bus and then with a smaller boat.

We will sailed out after fitting the tank. First you have to sail through a reef and then another 30 minutes to the north. Fortunately, the sea was fairly quiet. At the Atoll even the sun was shining and the first dive was pleasant, with lots of beautiful coral, several nudy branches, schools of fish, anemone fish and various butterfly fish. After 45 minutes at the surface again. When everyone was back on the boat, we had some food and waited for the next dive. During this waiting a few dolphins passed by, but just too far away to see them well.

The second dive started less well. We were dropped just a little too far from the reef and Adriane, our guide, could not find it back easily. So just paddle to the surface. In the meantime it had started to rain heavily. After the failed start we came into a current. We swam shallow and fortunately saw various fish, including scorpion fish and a moray eel. The second part lasted 39 minutes and was mainly a current dive. Difficult to photograph, for example at a school of young catfish.

During the return it was raining heavily. We were already wet and the wet suit gave us reasonable protection. I chatted with Adriane. Once back at the resort, Adriane tried a trick to avoid my blocked PIN from the credit card because I could also make a confirmation with a signature. That way I could pay the dives anyway and that problem was solved. After rinsing my things and packing the bag we drove back and around 2.15 pm I was back at my hotel.

I washed the salt away from me and paid the hotel in cash, because the signature trick did not work on the more modern device of this hotel. So in the end everything worked out well and the first week of my vacation was saved.

The rest of the afternoon I relaxed. Around 17.30 pm I walked a bit through the village of Matemwe, which was even bigger than I thought. There are a few shops, a school, a gas station and several hotels / resorts. After the walk I relaxed some more and around 19.45 pm eating in the restaurant and then checking the email of my work.

I already got my breakfast. Tomorrow they will pick me up around 7.30 am. The rest of the evening listening to music, the TV only gives 2 channels and 1 even no sound.
