Koror

We got up around 6.but 30 am and then have breakfast. Fortunately the breakfast buffet was open early. We had already packed most of the bags. After breakfast we checked out and had the luggage stored at the hotel. We were picked up around 7.30 am because Lex and Ursula had overslept we left a little later. This time we went by boat a good deal to the south, which was almost an hour sailing. I was already burned on my back yesterday and today I just kept my t-shirt on and applied sun cream well. The sun is pretty intense here.

The first dive was a place with a reasonable current at Blue Corner and there are also various types of sharks. We were under water with a reef hook (a hook with approximately 2 meters of rope that you place behind rock) so that we had our hands free. There was also a Napoleon fish (and a young one) and also various fish, but also a moray eel, turtle, doctor fish, bass and much more. The coral is also very beautiful here. At a greater depth I saw a large barracuda. After an hour of diving on the boat again. Then a snack. In the meantime we also saw a school of dolphins on the surface.

The second dive was at nearby Blue Hole, a large cave. Beautiful vegetation and here and there a lot of small small underwater life and a nudibranch. Outside the cave a white tip shark, various turtles, moray eel, butterfly fish, lion fish, clams, anemones (and associated anemone fish) and much more. Another very nice dive that we ended after more than an hour.

Another good lunch. I tried to stay out of the sun as much as possible. Then to Virgin Wall. Various large porcupine fish, trunk fish, sea cucumbers, turtles, barracudas, clown fish, scorpion fish, but also nudibranch; actually too much to mention. The coral here was again very beautiful. After 64 minutes the dive was finished and we sailed back.

We had already put the things in the grab bags and they would already be taken to the Palau Siren, the ship we were to stay on for the next 10 days. We were dropped off at the hotel where we could relax in the small garden for a while, before we were picked up. We were taken to Sam's tours and then by boat to the Palau Siren. We received a drink and a short welcome word. Then prepare our tanks. Unfortunately the hadn't realized that we wanted to dive with air instead of Nitrox. Martin and I turned out to be the only two who had chosen this, the rest turned up on Nitrox. The advantage of Nitrox is that you can stay deep longer, the disadvantage is that your depth is limited to approximately 30 meters. You would also stay fitter because you get less nitrogen in your tissues. Nitrogen is anesthetic. The ship is approximately 40 meters long and has 8 rooms. Fresh water is made from seawater all day long. For the rest, there is everything you need as a diver such as a table where you can charge equipment with just 220 volts. The ship also has 2 masts with real sails, but according to cruise director Eric not for sailing, so more for ornamental.

After moving into the cabin with 2 beds and shower it was time for dinner at 8 p.m. This tasted great. Afterwards some chatting and going to bed.
