Koror - Ulong

The ship sailed around 5.30 am, an hour later we got up. Eric, the cruise director, woke everyone up as far as was needed. The first dive briefing of this day was at 7 a.m. The ship was still sailing in a southerly direction. We were going to make the first dive at Ulong Sandbar, where we had been before. With the skiff we went to the slowly sloping plain below the water surface. This was a fantastic dive with many sharks (including a white-tip shark lying in the sand), African pomponi (a trevelly with long thread-like fins), Napoleon fish, hunting trevellies, eagle ray, large schools of barracudas, sand eels and much more. The mainly hard coral formed a beautiful underwater landscape. In fact, 64 minutes were too short.

With the skiff we went back to the ship and after rinsing the diving gear it was time for breakfast, again well cared for. After some relaxation a dive briefing. We went around 10.30 am with the skiff on the way to Siaes tunnel. The entrance is quite deep at 22 meters. The cave itself has a high ceiling and the light enters from various sides. We could not find the promised nudibranchs. Some bat fish and beautiful vegetation. While swimming outside I saw a white-tip reef shark. There were also school jacks. When I went to the surface I saw a beautiful sphere of anemone on the plateau. Not the most beautiful dive, but still plenty to see. Prior to the dive, Martin was also angry because of comments on his low-hanging bottle. Out of the water after more than an hour. It was a deep dive of 30 meters, while the bottom of the cave is almost 40 meters.

We sailed back to the ship with the skiff. After rinsing the diving gear it was time for lunch. There is nothing to complain about the food. After some time of relaxation it was again around 2.30 pm time for the third dive of the day. This time to Siaes Corner, where we were before. We were warned about current, but there was very little. Despite that, we did see sharks (including a grey reef shark with remora), but also turtle, lipfish, schools of barracudas, black lionfish, sea cucumber, humphead banner fish, lizard fish, sand eels, bigeye bass and butterfly fish. The coral was again very beautiful. I again reached the 25 meter depth. After more than an hour we were out of the water and headed back to the ship.

After a snack and some chatting it was time for the last dive of this day. This was near the ship on Kains Wall, a relatively new dive site. We saw diverse nightlife, such as beautifully colored starfish, feather stars, black nudibranch, but also the large ranges of hard coral were interesting.

Back on the ship and rinse the diving stuff, quickly in the shower to rinse the salt water and eat. We chat a bit and I filled in my logbook. Martin searched for some fish in the various guides on board. In fact, there is a lot of underwater life that we would not get to see. Almost everyone had gone to bed around 10.30 pm and I just went also.
