Day 3: Zaterdag 2 april 2016
Kuala Lumpur

I slept quit well apart from a phone call from a Dutch call center around 2 AM. Eventually I got up around 8.15 AM and was thus actually right in rhythm. That is often a problem when you're dealing with time difference. I had breakfast downstairs in the restaurant, which was not bad. I noticed that there are also several palm trees in the street. Traffic was also remarkably quiet at this time. Hereafter preparing for a hike through the eastern part of the center.

Around 10 AM I started my walk through town, fortunately it was not yet very hot, about 25 C. I went first to the main road and followed the monorail, which is above the road, to find my way.

Via clear direction signs for pedestrians, I found the way to the Petronas Twin Towers. With 452 meters certainly not the tallest building in the world, but in this city definitely a highlight. As you enter, there is a mall of 4 floors, especially with expensive brands, but there is also an entire floor with restaurants and a cinema. You can use an escalator and a elevator to go up (or down, of course).

In the basement you can buy ticket for a trip to the observation deck. Only 40 people at a time, and is working with the 'first come, first served' principle. I had to wait over an hour before I got up, which I spent in the park which is next to the towers. A pleasant park with fountains, a children's pool and playground. Furthermore, several trees with a remarkable number of birds.

Around 11.30 AM (slightly earlier than the ticket indicated) I could go with the elevator. In a fairly short time you first go to the 83rd floor, where a display is of the highest buildings in the world. Petronas Twin Tower is the only building with 2 towers which is so high. The towers are connected by a 52 meter long walkway, but it was not open today because renovations work is in progress until early May. A second elevator goes to the 86th floor at 370 meters. The view is beautiful, though it was somewhat limited by the smog that hung there. Still, I saw most of the town and the hills that lie around it. It's not all high-rise buildings; an impression that you get when you walk through the streets. I took several pictures and read some information when I again had to go down after 20 minutes.

At 12.10 PM I was back on the street and walked around the park and then back to the hotel. I walked around in a large shopping center (one of the largest in the city), but that was mainly to cool off). I could tell it was getting warmer and around 2 PM I went to the hotel to cool down there at the air conditioning. Until 4 PM I did nothing and then some work on my travel story. Just after 5 PM I went downstairs to drink a beer, which is nice in this hot weather.

Around 8 PM I went to eat at the hotel restaurant, where I, as a guest, could eat for free although the choice was limited. Back in my room I watched some TV. Around 10.15 PM there was a short downpour of about 20 minutes. Around 11 PM, I walked another round, it was still busy in the streets. After watching a movie I went to sleep around 0.30 AM.
