Alor Setar - Georgetown

I was already awake at 7 PM, but it was still dim. The sun rises around 7.20 AM. I turned one last time, but half an hour later I was out of bed. I worked a little on my website and then went to breakfast in the hotel, it was reasonable buffet. Hereafter pack my bag and at 10 AM check out and leave. I now followed the route number 1. This passes through more rural areas including rice fields, though there was now little rice. The rice fields disappeared when on the right mountains appeared. I passed many villages, but not enough to make a stop. Just before Kuala Muda, I saw a tall building in Chinese style from the road. I drove up to it. What it was, was not clear to me. It looks like a temple, but the construction apparently was not yet complete. I took some pictures and drove on.

Again my Ipad let me down, but the direction signs were quite clear. I drove one time into the wrong street, but could easily drive back and still take the road to the bridge. It still cost me a RM 7 toll. The bridge of 13,5 kilometer is leading from Butterworth to the island of Penang. Once on the island I could find reasonably easy the road to Georgetown, only the last part was a bit difficult, but I found the hotel (G Times Hotel, where the G stands for Georgetown) easily. I had driven 120 kilometers and it was 12.30. PM. I checked in and brought my luggage to my room on the first floor and cleaned the car.

I then walked to the pier to buy a ticket for the ferry to Langkawi the day after tomorrow. It costed me RM 70. So at least I know well where I should be, because it turned out to be in a different place than I thought. It was warm in the meantime.

I drove the car to the airport and fueled along the road (car must be delivered with a full tank). Initially, I drove to the wrong side of the airport, but eventually I found a place where I could return the car. Another 30 kilometers driven. After the inspection I took the bus back to town. This left after 10 minutes, so quite quickly. Initially it followed this highway, but made a stop at bus station and later at a shopping center. On the way I saw large towers with apartments where apparently thousands of people must live. It slowed it down, but I was in no hurry.

Around 4 PM the bus at the Jetty was and I walked towards the hotel. I smoked a cigar and walked around in the area.

The rest of the time I stayed in my room and went at 8.15 PM looking for a restaurant, which was not easy. Many businesses were closed and there were not many restaurants. I finally arrived in the Indian neighborhood (which is not far from the hotel) at an Indian restaurant and asked for a mild food, Indian food is often spicy and that is something I can't handle good. I took a plate of Galaxy rice with a drink made of mint, very tasty.

After that I walked back to the hotel and got some work done on my website and then to sleep.
