Travellingman reisverhalen - - Kuala Lumpur
Day 4: Zondag 3 april 2016
Kuala Lumpur

I got up at 8 AM after sleeping a bit restless. After breakfast downstairs I packed my luggage for tour through the western part of the city. I started walking around 9 AM and soon I went in the wrong direction, because the roads are just different than on the map. I walked past a mosque with a blue dome, which must lie somewhere on the south side of Chinatown. I wanted to go to the Central Market, but I went the wrong way and came out at the historic station, a large white building, clearly built in oriental style. Opposite is the headquarters of the railways, a building dating from 1923. I wanted to walk to the Central Market, but I ended up between many main roads, where you, as a pedestrian, not want to be. For pedestrians it is difficult to go beyond the usual areas.

Eventually I ended up in Jalan Petaling and thus was directly in the heart of Chinatown. Many shops with clothes, shoes and other stuff. There was relaxed atmosphere. It started just to become busier and some stores were not even open. The shops stall most things on the street which makes the atmosphere more intimate. Through another street with shops I finally came to the Central Market.

From here I wanted to walk to the Botanical Garden, but it was not easy. I walked the wrong way a couple of times, but eventually arrived at Jalan Parlimen and that road led me to the garden. Here I went first for a rest, it started to become pretty warm already.

Meanwhile it was noon. There are many birds, which brightened my rest. Then I walked slowly through the park, you can actually see it as the green lung of the city. There were only a few people, even on this Sunday. There are several themes in the park and I slowly walked along them. There were ponds, bamboo, deer, and some other topics. I took a drink at the boathouse, although there was no boat to see. I also visited a house where in the 70s of the last century the second president of the country, Tun Abdul Razak, has lived. A huge house, with large rooms and lots of open connections. So you can see how important people lived in those days. He died in 1976 and was the president who tightened the bonds to China.

Around 3 PM I left the park, looking at KL Sentral. Again, I went wrong, because I first had to go a different way due to road works and missed a stair. Eventually I came across an immense station / mall and after asking a couple of times I got to the right monorail. The two cars were pretty full, but in fifteen minutes I was back on station Bukit Bintang.

I walked around in the huge Sungei Wang Plaza, where I was almost lost. Eventually I found an exit again and with difficulty (road works) the right way. Eventually around 4 PM I could put my backpack in the room again and I went downstairs for a refreshing glass of beer. Hereafter I gave my legs a rest, because I could feel my calf muscles again. The mirror told me that my neck was become quite red, despite the frequent rubbing with sunburn.

After some rest, I went to eat around 8 PM in the restaurant downstairs and walked around on the market. I bought a T-shirt, because they are always useful. Later I talked to someone from Malaka, who was here to do some work in the capital. His contract was almost done, but he did not worry too much in my opinion.

After watching a movie in my room to sleep well after midnight.
