Travellingman reisverhalen - - Puerto Escondido- Oaxaca
Day 12: 13 maart 2008
Puerto Escondido- Oaxaca

Around 7.30 am I woke up and took a shower, collected my luggage and left, without having breakfast, around 8.30 am. I drove first to Mazunte where I arrived around 9.45 am. After a coffee I visited the turtle shelter (Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga), which this time was open. Here were several turtles to see. The small turtles are brought here to grow up. In free nature the chance is considerable that they fall to prey to other animals. The larger turtles, some with handicap, roam around in a basin. All this outside. There is also in house basin where several turtles can be seen as if it was their natural habitat.

Then I set off to Oaxaca. For this I had to drive through the mountains. The first 100 kilometers were winding and driving faster than 50 km/h was not possible. There were beautiful views (for example kilometer 187, 175, 150 and 114) and I took some photographs.

Hereafter I came on a highland where I could keep on driving well. In a village I made a stop to drink coffee. This was at a restaurant that was situated in a garage of a house. In Xoxocotlan I lost track for a moment, because the continuing road suddenly ended and the directions through this little town were not everywhere present.

Eventually I was around 5.15 pm at the hotel in Oaxaca. It was at the edge of the centre, but I did not have the energy to go explore the surrounding. After I relaxed a little bit I ate in Mexican fast food restaurant, where I had taco.

After watching TV at my room I went to sleep.
